Morphies
This new body of work marks a departure from controlled industrial practices, allowing the material itself to drive the form. By introducing raw ingredients to heat and force, I create dynamic, unpredictable results—forms that cannot be replicated and textures that reveal the inherent beauty of glass in its most elemental state.
The color treatments I employ subvert the industry’s desire for perfect, standardized hues. Instead, I reduce these colors to their base metal oxides, uncovering the metallic reflections and sheens of gold and silver hidden within. This transformation exposes the core materials, revealing their true identity.
This reflective opacity unites the object into a cohesive whole, transforming fragmented parts into a singular form that engages with light through optical surprises—drips, nodules, twists, and layers—creating a mirror-like surface that reveals new details with every shift in perspective.
My studio practice is experimental, constantly exploring the relationship between materiality, form, and process. Through these works, I seek to engage with glass not just as a medium, but as a living, evolving conversation.
